When we speak of freedom, we mean the freedom to voice your concerns without being imprisoned or targeted. Today we see elites trying to amend the Constitution to serve their own interests while the majority continue to suffer.

The attempt to change the Constitution without a referendum shows exactly what the current leadership cares about: power, not the people. Because of this, we say we are not truly independent. We still need to fight for the citizens’ independence.

Real freedom means expressing your views without threats or jail. Our prisons are full of political activists who stood up to say no to 2030 and no to CAB3, because the oppressor wants to silence the voice of the people.

As long as we remain crushed by sanctions and forced to use another country’s currency to trade, we are not independent. Sanctions are economic war against any nation that defies the imperialists. Zimbabwe was crippled by sanctions, so what independence is there to celebrate when only a few elites enjoy the spoils of our country?
